Crystal Rassi
Crystal grew up in Saskatchewan, and carries the badge of scooping ice cream in Waskesiu.
Crystal’s work is well recognized by her whimsically serious style. With Crystal's work and educational background (degrees in Fine Art and in Architecture Design), her work has revolved around residential architecture and the idea of what home means to different people and cultures. Canada is a melting pot of culture with a huge variety of definitions of home. Elements of home can revolve around environment, economy, family, belief systems, or politics. Home can be: Where your belongings are, where you feel safe, where you sleep, where people you love most are, where you share similar values with people around you, where you work, where you play, where you value time spent, where your best memories lay, a place you fight for, a climate you're surrounded by, or people, places, and politics you're familiar with.
Crystal’s expertise lies within her ability to manipulate perspective. Each painting begins with a series of sketches that lead into photo collages, painting studies, or mini sculptures, that is then translated to canvas.
Crystal currently lives in Vancouver with her family where she creates and mentors aspiring artists. She fondly remembers the summers working and exploring Waskesiu, Prince Albert National Park in Saskatchewan. Crystal’s newest series explores the emotional connection guests have to Saskatchewan’s varied landscape and history.
