Cynthia Makara

Cynthia Makara started her professional career in Argentina where she graduated as a Graphic Designer. She came to Canada in 2005 to continue to develop her artistic skills and she discovered her passion and love for the encaustic medium in 2009.

Recognizing the encaustic medium's intricate nature, Cynthia appreciates how it yields unique texture, depth, warmth, an unparalleled finish, and a vibrancy of colors distinct from other painting techniques. She is committed to perpetually challenging herself to evolve and perfect this exceptional artistic method.

Cynthia's work draws inspiration from the beauty of nature, capturing serene moments inspired by the splendor of western dusks, dawns, forests, mountains, and prairies. Infused with tranquility, Cynthia's paintings mirror the magnificence of the sky, skillfully mastered through a multilayered approach. This technique results in distinctive combinations and perspectives, influenced by varying levels and angles of illumination, driven by the damar resin content.

Currently, Cynthia Makara resides in Calgary, Alberta.
