Michelle Atkinson

Michelle Atkinson is a multidisciplinary artist based in Calgary, Alberta, whose work explores the relationship between art, science and the natural world. After more than 20 years as an award-winning graphic designer, she established a full-time studio practice, bringing her interest in visual communication and experimentation into her artwork.

Originally trained in glass casting, Atkinson became known for innovative approaches to recycled glass. Her sculptural work explores the material’s possibilities through colour, texture and form, often drawing inspiration from scientific and environmental research. Her work has received multiple awards and grants, including recognition from the Made in Alberta Awards.
