Quinn Smith Windsor is an artist, entrepreneur and advocate for disability rights. Quinn was awarded the Terry Fox Humanitarian Award in 2022. As a Terry Fox Scholar, she In pursuing a B.A. degree in Disability Studies from Toronto Metropolitan University. Quinn lives just outside of Waskesiu Lake, near Prince Albert National Park in Treaty 6 Territory, Saskatchewan. Quinn is the co-founder of The PossAbility Shop. She believes that arts and entrepreneurship can create more inclusive communities. Quinn uses unique paint methods involving pouring, pressing and/or dragging string through wet paint. She sometimes uses silicone oil and a blow torch to create cells of colour. She uses the movement of her wheelchair to create movement on the canvas. Other times, she lets gravity do some work and lets the paint go where it wants to. Quin has been featured in a number of solo exhibitions. “My artistic journey is rooted in a vision of creating inclusion through the arts. I believe that I can be successful because of who I am. As an artist and entrepreneur, I believe in the transformative power of creativity to access employment and empower individuals through collaborative, inclusive projects,” says Quinn.
