The Mitten Co.
Noreen was born and raised on a family farm northwest of Prince Albert and moved to Saskatoon to pursue her studies in Medical Laboratory Technology. She has worked at the University of Saskatchewan her entire career and is Lab Manager of the Molecular Microbiology Research Laboratory at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. She is part of a team which does research on prairie bats, which has led to many new and exciting discoveries.
Together with her husband Phil, they raised three children and enjoy many of the activities/sports that Saskatchewan has to offer, including spending time at their cabin at Candle Lake.
Since she was a young girl, Noreen has had a love for sewing, which was a skill that she learned by watching her mother, who was and remains a master seamstress.
The Mitten Company began as a small project when Noreen made a few pair of mittens for close family members as gifts and was then encouraged to take it further to craft sales. Four years later, she has made hundreds of mittens, with each pair being unique.
Noreen loves to source out unwanted sweaters, buttons, and fleece blankets and turn them into creative, one of a kind works of art that serve an extremely useful purpose for our Canadian winters.
