Laird Goulet

Laird Goulet is a Canadian First Nations Metis artist raised in The Pas, Manitoba. Laird grew up experiencing life on the trapline. With help and encouragement from his family, Laird began his painting journey.

Laird’s works capture what it is like to live as a first nations person in Canada. From his early childhood on the trap lines and fishing grounds, to the present, Laird has re-imagined and chose the healing path that has led to an appreciation of who and what he has experienced. With a focus on the human ties to the land, Laird hopes to bring a visualization of that journey and lifestyle of his Cree Moshums (Grandfathers and Grandmothers)

Laird’s unique and vibrant painting style reflects the spiritual and artistic imprints that have been inherently transferred to him by his grandmothers. Laird uses the power dot to best capture the floral beadwork patterns and rich birchbark biting imprints that his grandmothers had mastered before him.
